What's Really Going On
Power spikes hit harder than you think.
Your home runs on a steady level of power. A surge is a sudden jump above that level — a spike. Even a small one stresses the electronics it hits. Where do they come from?
You can't stop surges from happening. But you can stop them from reaching your stuff.
Where It Leads
Small hits add up. Big hits don't wait.
Most of Surge's damage is slow. He quietly takes years off your electronics, and you blame “bad luck” when the TV dies early.
But he has a worst case too. A big enough spike — a close lightning hit, a grid fault — can take out expensive equipment all at once. The AC board, the appliances, the works. And here's the part that surprises people: home insurance often won't cover surge damage at all. One bad surge can cost you the full repair out of pocket — usually more than the protection would have.
