A Level 2 charger is one of the biggest power draws you can add to a house — up there with your AC or an electric range. An empty breaker slot doesn't mean you have the power to fill it.

Can my home handle an EV charger?
It depends on how much room your panel has left — not just whether there's an empty breaker slot. A Level 2 charger is one of the biggest power draws in a house. We run a load calculation to measure what your home already uses against what it can supply, then tell you plainly whether you have room, need a small extra panel, or need to upgrade the panel first.
What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 charging?
Level 1 is a regular wall outlet — nothing to install, but very slow, often only a few miles of range per hour. Level 2 runs on a 240-volt circuit like an electric dryer and charges much faster, which is why most people install it. The catch: Level 2 needs its own circuit and enough room in your panel.
Should I get a hardwired charger or a plug-in one?
Both work. Hardwired is permanent and clean, and it's sometimes required for bigger chargers or outdoor spots. A plug-in unit on its own 240V outlet is easier to swap out or take with you if you move. We'll walk you through which one fits your setup and your plans.
Do I need a permit to install an EV charger?
Yes — adding a 240V circuit needs a permit and an inspection in the Round Rock and greater Austin area. We handle the permit and set up the inspection as part of the job. Be careful with any installer who offers to skip it.
Do you install Tesla and other brands?
Yes. We're Tesla Certified for EV charging and ChargePoint Certified, and we install the other major brands too. If you haven't bought a charger yet, we can talk it through before you commit — that's usually the cheapest time to get advice.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
A simple install is often done in a day. What changes that: how far it is from the panel, whether the wire has to cross walls or the attic, whether the panel needs work first, and when the inspector can come. You'll get a clear plan and a flat price before anything starts.
How much does EV charger installation cost?
It depends on how far it is from your panel, the path the wire takes, the charger you pick, and whether your panel has room. That's what the $119 consult answers: we look at the system and give you a flat price upfront, and the consult fee comes off the job if you move forward the same day.
Should I add surge protection with my charger?
It's worth thinking about. An EV charger is expensive equipment wired straight into your electrical system, and Texas storms and the power grid send spikes down the line. A whole-home surge protector at the panel is the usual way to guard it — we'll bring it up at the consult, no pressure either way.
