Round Rock Homes & EV Chargers
Your side of town tells us a lot about your install.
West side near I-35, the original ’70s and ’80s homes. This is where we still find Federal Pacific (Stab-Lok) panels. We won’t hang a 40-amp charger circuit on one of those. If that’s your panel, the honest answer is panel first, charger second, and we’ll tell you that at the consult.
East side older communities, mostly GE panels. Often fine, but sized for a house that used a fraction of today’s power. A load calculation tells us whether a charger fits as-is or needs a smarter path.
East side newer communities, Square D QO and Eaton CH. Quality panels. The usual problem isn’t the panel, it’s running out of room once the AC, range and a charger all want a spot. We’re Eaton Certified and a SPAN dealer, so we have more than one way to make room.
Permits: Round Rock electrical permits go through the city’s online Permit Portal, inspected to the 2023 National Electrical Code. Panel upgrades also need a torque letter signed by a master electrician. We handle all of it.

EV chargers in Round Rock, answered straight
Do I need a permit to install an EV charger in Round Rock?
Yes. A Level 2 charger means a new 240-volt circuit, and the City of Round Rock requires an electrical permit and inspection for it. We pull the permit through the city's Permit Portal and schedule the inspection as part of the job.
How much does EV charger installation cost in Round Rock?
Most of the price comes from three things: how far your parking spot is from the panel, the path the wire has to take, and whether your panel has room. The $119 consult answers all three and gets you a flat price up front. The consult fee comes off the job if you go ahead the same day.
My Round Rock home has a Federal Pacific panel. Can I still get a charger?
Yes, but not on that panel. Federal Pacific (Stab-Lok) breakers have a known history of not tripping when they should, and an EV charger is one of the biggest loads in a house. We'd replace the panel first, then install the charger. We can often do both in one project.
Do you install Tesla Wall Connectors in Round Rock?
Yes. We're a Tesla certified installer and ChargePoint certified, and we install the other major Level 2 brands too.
Is there still a federal tax credit for a home EV charger?
Not for new installs. The federal 30C credit for home chargers ended for equipment placed in service after June 30, 2026. If your charger was installed and working before then, you may still be able to claim it on your 2026 return with IRS Form 8911 — ask your tax preparer. Utility programs and time-of-use rates are where the savings are now, and we'll point you to whatever your provider offers.
