North Austin & EV Chargers
Check your utility before you buy a charger.
Austin Energy customers. Austin Energy’s home charger rebate has covered half the cost of buying and installing a qualifying Level 2 charger, up to $1,200 for Power Partner compatible stations or vehicles and up to $900 otherwise. It requires a licensed electrician and a City of Austin permit, and funding is limited, so check Austin Energy’s Plug-In Austin page for current terms before you buy.
Not every North Austin address is Austin Energy. Some areas near Round Rock, Pflugerville and Cedar Park are on Oncor or Pedernales Electric Co-op, and those addresses don’t qualify for the Austin Energy rebate. Look at the top of your electric bill.
Older North Austin homes. Panels from the ’70s and ’80s, including Federal Pacific, still turn up. Those get replaced before a charger goes in.
Permits: Inside Austin city limits, a new EV charger circuit needs a City of Austin electrical permit and inspection, which Austin Energy’s rebate also requires. We pull the permit and meet the inspector.

EV chargers in North Austin, answered straight
Is there an Austin Energy rebate for a home EV charger?
Austin Energy has offered a rebate covering half the cost to buy and install a qualifying Level 2 charger, up to $1,200 for Power Partner compatible stations or vehicles and up to $900 otherwise. You must be an Austin Energy customer, use a licensed electrician, and have a City of Austin permit. Funding is limited and terms change, so confirm on Austin Energy's Plug-In Austin home charging page before you buy.
Do I need a permit for an EV charger in Austin?
Yes. Inside Austin city limits, a new 240-volt charger circuit needs a City of Austin electrical permit and inspection. We handle it, and it's one of the requirements for the Austin Energy rebate.
How much does EV charger installation cost in North Austin?
It depends on the distance from your panel, the wire path, and panel capacity, before any rebate. The $119 consult gets you a flat price up front, credited toward the job if you approve the same day.
Do you install Tesla and ChargePoint chargers in Austin?
Yes. We're Tesla certified and ChargePoint certified, and we install other major Level 2 brands too.
Is there still a federal tax credit for a home EV charger?
Not for new installs. The federal 30C credit for home chargers ended for equipment placed in service after June 30, 2026. If your charger was installed and working before then, you may still be able to claim it on your 2026 return with IRS Form 8911 — ask your tax preparer. Utility programs and time-of-use rates are where the savings are now, and we'll point you to whatever your provider offers.
